Real trick to check if windows is genuine

Updated: Apr 8, 2020

If you are a microsoft windows 7/8/8.1/10 user then you can very easily and instantly check whether the windows version you are using is genuine or not by launching the control panel & heading towards update & security/ system & security option. For you it's merely a piece of cake to find out the truth. Just press the start button & type settings and open the application. Now go to Update & Security as given in the below image.

On the left sidebar press the Activation tab and on the right-hand side you will see the message displaying the information about your windows activated by a product key or a digital license. Refer the below image for your doubts.

Now here is the real deal !!

Go to desktop properties & use command prompt to know whether the machine you are using is permanently activated which will be genuine/original in nature or partially activated which will determine the windows is on trial version using a partial product activation key.

By opening command prompt just after opening this properties page of desktop as shown above.

"Press Start+R & type CMD if you don't know, from where you need to open the command prompt tab"

Now type the command slmgr / xpr and hit enter.

You will then see a message displayed as "The machine is permanently activated".

Please note, if you get something other than this, then know for sure- Your copy of windows is not genuine at all.

Refer the image below if you have any doubt on how to enter the command & get the message displayed to you.
